Summer Sampler 2016 ~ Week 14
As we find ourselves on Week 14 of the Summer Sampler 2016 quilt along, I am feeling like we are in the homestretch. That doesn't mean the blocks are getting easier though. This week's block, Piccolo Park by one of my cohosts Katie Blakesley of Swim Bike Quilt, takes organization, precision and patience. But you are pleasantly rewarded in the end.
I have a couple tips this week. First, read the directions all the way through first. This probably isn't a block you want to tackle at 2am. :) Second, when you cut out all your fabric, keep it organized in piles by the letter assigned to that cut in the directions. (I just wrote a letter on a piece of paper and put it on top of my fabric piles). Finally, take care when cutting and stitching - be exact. An accurate 1/4" seam allowance is important. Stitch slower than usual if that helps, I did. You will be thankful when it's time to match up all your seams and points.
Aren't all the blocks looking pretty together? Soon I will have to zoom out my camera and you will see my machines and messy sewing room. :)
