Hi there everyone! I realized today that I haven't checked in recently...and I haven't shared this little quilt which I appropriately named, Sportsball. Sometimes, you make a quilt for a gift. And the recipient is 3 years old. And he really loves sports, balls, and pretty much all things that bounce, are thrown, or are caught. And when that happens, you go online and find sports themed fabric.

For this quilt, I paired fabric from the Game Day collection by Lori Whitlock for Riley Blake with fabric from my stash. I made this quilt for my nephew, so I used the same pattern/layout as a quilt I made for my son and my other nephew. Now they all have semi-matching quilts!

I cut each rectangle 3″ x 10″ and the quilt has 6 columns and 24 rows, for a total of 144 rectangles. The finished size is 57″ x 60″. This makes a great, lap-sized quilt for kids. For an added bonus, I use minky on the back. And with this size of quilt, I don't need to cut/piece the minky together for the backing.

I quilted this one with wavy lines - I love the look! I used the Running Stitch on my machine (BERNINA stitch #4) and maxed out the width and set the length to 4.0. I used my walking foot while quilting.

Another cozy quilt, off to a new home!
