10th Anniversary Summer Sampler Series : Arkansas Traveler

Our sixth block of the 10th Anniversary Summer Sampler Series Quilt Along is the Arkansas Traveler. Head on over to Lee’s journal, for her updated tutorial with a slightly new take on the block! I think it’s fairly safe to say I’m obsessed with this block. It has inspired not one, not two, but three quilts since the original Summer Sampler Series quilt long.

First, here’s my block from 2011:

I kept the scrappy theme going in this quilt from 2013, but each block is monochromatic.

In 2014, in my Shimmering Lanterns quilt I used a slightly different fabric layout on the diamonds and incorporated a fun border.

Also in 2014, I created a version where the diamonds were each a single fabric, but used some fun text prints. There are endless opportunities with this block!
