Pixelations

Pixelations by Lee Heinrich for Summer Sampler 2019

There’s the saying, “when it rains, it pours”. And that was pretty much the situation at our house last week. Which has resulted in me being a week late in writing about my second Summer Sampler 2019 block, Pixelations.

It’s probably pretty obvious that the Pixelations block technique is…half square triangles! The block was designed by one of my cohosts, Lee Heinrich. I will admit that I would probably never voluntarily make something with this many tiny HSTs. All the marking and the trimming… But Lee offered two options for making this block. One was the traditional HST method. The other was a sample of her HST templates. I used the templates, just like I had when making this HST pillow. SO easy! Everything comes out perfectly with NO squaring up or marking.

I found the biggest challenge with this block was making sure all my units were facing in the correct direction. Which means no watching Netflix and sewing at the same time. :)

I’ve loved seeing everyone’s blocks on IG and in the private Facebook group!

Remember! It’s not too late to join in the fun with us this summer. (It’s actually never too late!) . When you sign up, you will immediately receive all the block patterns to date. For the late comers, I’d recommend starting with the current week’s block and then making the past blocks in your spare time. That way you can immediately join in the fun with everyone on Instagram and in the private Facebook group.

Happy sewing everyone!
