The Blizzard Hit

Chicago Blizzard 2011

No sewing in this post…just some great shots of the Chicago blizzard we had here yesterday and overnight. We won’t be going anywhere for awhile!

The wind was whipping snow all night, 60mph gusts. I’ve never seen anything like it. It sounded worse than the 4 hurricanes we lived through in Tampa in 2004.

Yikes! Stay warm!! Here in Cleveland we haven’t gotten the big snow, we got pummeled with freezing rain all night. Now it’s snowing on top of it, eek! :)

Oh, you definitely received the brunt of it! We only got 4-5 inches here in MN this time around. Have fun and stay warm!

Well…I didn’t! :) My husband did half the driveway (to get his car out) with a shovel and then drove to his parents house a mile away to get a snow blower for the second half. He is just finishing up now. The repeated passes by the snowplow isn’t helping though – it keeps shooting another foot of snow over the driveway!

Hi Faith, Strong weather patterns across the world right now, we are feeling the effects of this in Aus too right now.
Stay warm….i have to say though, that snow sure looks nice. What a great excuse to stay inside and quilt the day away.

Wow! It looks like you got all the snow that they had predicted for us! Thankfully the bulk of it missed us, we primarily got the freezing rain & sleet with a possibility of a couple of inches of snow this evening. Hope everyone stays warm & safe!

Geez-e-petes. I’ve never seen that much snow before. Hope you have a great time with it! Love the yard stick stuck in the snow for measuring. Awesome!

I’m in Geneva—we’re close! I have never seen anything like what happened Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The winds were insane and it literally was a white-out. We couldn’t even see our cars from our door (maybe 40 feet away) on Tuesday night. I am glad you are all safe and that you got out! But, aren’t you sore!? I sure am.

We are practically neighbors – I’m in Lisle. My husband did almost all the shoveling out front which was nice. But I just did the deck in the back so that we can grill sometime before summer! That was a lot of work, especially lifting the shovel over the rail every time. I’m thinking it’s time for Spring.
