A Trip to the Fabric Shack
This unsuspecting little building is home to the Fabric Shack. Those of us that order fabric online are very familiar with their wide selection and great prices. I was very excited to visit their store over the weekend while at my parents house in Cincinnati. Unfortunately, my kids didn’t share my feelings. My 1 year old cried pretty much the entire time we were there. Lucky for me everyone working and shopping there were super nice.
They have 2 1/2 rooms FILLED with fabric. It was so exciting to see all the lines in person that normally I shop for based on a picture on the computer. Heather Ross Far, Far Away, Anna Maria Horner Folksy Flannel, Denyse Schmidt, Joel Dewberry, Heather Bailey, Sandi Henderson, Amy Butler, Laura Gunn… I could really go on and on. There were more Moda precuts than I’ve ever seen in one place!
Here I am getting my fabric cut. Behind me is a huge assortment of Kona solids.

I bought some of Heather Ross’s green unicorns that I had run out of for the back of the Far, Far Away quilt I’m working on right now.
I also bought some green and blue Wild Thyme by Carolyn Gavin.

Joel Dewberry’s Modern Meadow Herringbone in pond and grass as well.

And of course, some Moda charm packs – MoMo Freebird. The ladies were nice enough to dig through unpacked boxes in the back to find these for me.

We decided to go back when I’m in town over Memorial Day weekend and this time I’m leaving the kids with my husband, for some uninterrupted shopping!

this shop sounds like a place in Battle Creek, Washington called Fabric Manor … it’s just a tiny little place for a fabric store, but is filled to capacity with fabric! she has full lines of certain fabrics! if you don’t know what you’re looking for, it can be quite chaotic but it is certainly a treat for the fabric senses! I love going there and just looking and feeling all the fabric!
Oh, and I love your blog … very inspirational!

Great fabric choices! Too fun to see pics of Fabric Shack–love it! I’ve also shopped Country Manor, but just over the phone. Susan is super nice and seems to have a ton, though I do wish I could visit in person! Maybe one of these days

I got to visit there over Thanksgiving last fall while visiting relatives in Cinci as well. Isn’t it such a fun place! They really have a little bit or a lot a bit of everything. I had such a fun time browsing–the whole town is really pretty cute.
i went out of my way to check out of the fabric shack in person recently as well. it was hard to believe that that little building held so much glorious fabric!
I’m so jealous! Sounds glorious (except for the crying baby in the fabric store part . . . I know what that’s like!)
How fun! My inlaws are 20mins from there, so it’s always the highlight of my trip
And even with a list, i end up there for hours – so the little guy gets left home!
I discovered Fabric Shack last year on a visit to Cincinnati! Love digging through all the remnants and bins of Fat Quarters. Found Lush deers at $2.60/yd first time there. I have a trip planned while visiting my parents next week!
