March: Quilting Bee Block
Back in the swing of things for the Sew New to Me Virtual Quilting Bee, March was Corey at Little Miss Shabby’s month. (If you are a fan of Flea Market Fancy, you *must* go check out the header on her blog!) Corey sent us a beautiful palette of fabrics – blue, green, gray, white. She asked us to make blocks using triangles and squares. Pinwheels, stars, whatever we wanted. She wanted attention to small details and piecing.
I’ve never made a block like this and it was really fun. It is certainly a lesson in precision and patience. I have a lot of respect for those that make entire quilts like this!
I added in a little Dolce fabric, as it matched perfectly! And you wouldn’t believe I used to be good at math. Heck, 1/3 of my degree is math…but I calculated wrong and ended up needing to add a border to make the square 12.5″. I think it looks cute though.
I told Corey she could take it off if it’s not her vision though!

I love this block. The color palate is beautiful too.

I did the math wrong on my block too and had to add extra sets of squares and then cut it down to 12.5. I also have a lot of respect for people who do whole quilts like this. I love how your block turned out!
A beautiful block – stunning.
Faith–I love the block that you made for me! The Dolce is a perfect addition–I noticed it right away and thought it was just wonderful. And the border is just lovely as well–I love skinny little borders and this one fits the bill. Thanks so much!!
