Community Giving : Action Kivu

Just popping in from my week away to let you all know about a great opportunity to participate in a fundraiser and giveaway for Action Kivu this week! This is an annual event organized by Alissa Haight Carlton of Handmade by Alissa.

Straight from Alissa’s blog post, “Action Kivu is a nonprofit that helps women who are victims of the conflict in Eastern Congo by teaching them to sew at a sewing workshop. Action Kivu also pays for children to go to school and supports other programs for women that provide them ways to support themselves and their families.”

You can find out more information about Action Kivu here and participate in Alissa’s fundraiser here, through August 19th, 2013.

Thanks for highlighting this outreach to the folks who live in Congo. My aunt is trying to set up something similar in Belize.
