Basting Glimma
I’ve made a bit more progress on my Glimma quilt! This one has been a lot of fun to make. I didn’t really have a plan when I started on my flying geese. I loved the look of the Yarn Dyed Essex Linen in Black next to the fabric, but I decided to use Essex Linen in Flax for the main backdrop of the quilt. (I posted where you can buy the Essex Linen in here, as well as my flying geese paper piecing template.)
I improvisationally pieced the blocks from the top down. Literally – I started at the top left of the quilt and worked my way over and down like reading a book.
It’s all pin basted now and ready for me to quilt! Let’s see if I can get that done today.

Love the Glimma and it suits this pattern very nicely. Also goes so well with the Essex linen – I can see the flax colour coming in very handy.

It looks like you’ve used the Essex linen with traditional quilting cotton for the colorful cottons. Will there be any issues when/if the quilt is laundered?
Hi Angela – this is a mini that I’m going to hang on the wall, so I didn’t worry about mixing the fabrics because I’m not planning on washing it. But if I were to use this mix for a large quilt, I would definitely prewash/dry everything and then probably use a 1/2″ seam allowance just in case.

This is lovely! All the swirls of motion and back and forth of the pattern makes me think of a flock of flying sparrows instead of geese!
