Timber & Leaf for the House
New pillows for the couch have been on my to-do list since the beginning of Winter. I love my Autumn pillows, but I was ready to put them away until next year. When I saw Sarah Watt‘s Timber & Leaf collection for Blend Fabrics, I knew the natural designs and soft colors were perfect for my house. I mixed in Free Spirit Designer Solids in Pearl and Dogwood.
These two are my favorites!
I was inspired by Amy’s Indie Vibrations quilt. I really liked how her string blocks were paper pieced so they would line up, but still be different widths of fabric strips. I made two paper piecing templates, each are 6-1/2″ x 9-1/2″ unfinished. I used 3 of each template to form the 18″ square pillow.
You can buy the pattern for Amy’s Indie Vibrations quilt in her pattern shop.
I quilted the pillow with straight lines, about 1/2″ apart. The back is a simple envelope enclosure.
You can find Timber & Leaf at Moona Fabrics. Now to make another one for the other side of the couch!

I have some of that collection on its way to me. I really love it. your pillow looks great!
My daughter picked out that fabric a couple of weeks ago and we bought it to make a toss pillow for her bed. Your piecing is lovely.
Your pillows are lovely. And that fabric is so unique….
I love it I love string blocks thats why I thought I would love the Herringbone and I cant get it.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Now I think I have another fabric line to add to my “must have” list! And I want to make new pillows! Sometimes reading your blog is dangerous, in a very fun way
I love that fabric too! Just saw it the other day and knew I would have to order some…Like I need more fabric? Your pillow is beautiful!
A beautiful choice of fabrics! Beyond that, I love that you are a fan of paper-piecing. It is my go-to technique. I often make my own paper foundations, based on the finished block. I have probably tried every ‘store-bought’ foundation available, and have found that newsprint is my foundation of choice. Instead of buying a pack of 25 papers for a big price, I purchased a ream of newsprint on Office Depot’s site. The ream of 500 sheets cost about the same as a ‘quilters’ pack of 25 sheets found at a quilt store. That allows me more money to spend on beautiful fabric!
Gorgeous pillow and fabrics! You have a beautiful way to put them together!
Pretty colors, Faith! The pillow looks really nice.
The pillow is so pretty. Love the fabrics but I especially love the fabric with the bear. I’m going to have to look for some of that.

Was a seriously beautiful fabric collection, and I works so well on that pillow! Just love it. And a good size too. I have some 12″ on my couch and they just aren’t big enough on their own
Where can I get this fabric?? Thanks
Hi Corinne – There is a link at the end of the blog post to Moona Fabrics who carries the fabric.
I’m a relatively new quilter. And not terribly computer savvy. How can I get this pillow pattern?
Hi Terri – I made up my own template to make the pillow, but there is a link to a pattern in the blog post. It is a quilt that was my inspiration and you can buy the pattern if you click on the link.
I absolutely LOVE your quilts. The designs are modern, the colors are vibrant, the end results are upbeat, gorgeous quilts! You just made a convert out of me !!!! Keep up the fabulous work !!!!
