Starfall Quilt Top
If you are a regular visitor here, you know I’m teaching in a couple weeks at the Sewing Summit in Salt Lake City. One of the techniques we will be practicing is partial seams.
I decided to make a quilt that features a few partial seam blocks. We won’t be making this quilt in class, but hopefully you will feel comfortable with this technique by the time you get home, so you can make your own partial seam blocks.
In other news….tonight is the third Naperville Modern Quilt Guild meeting!

I’ll be doing a little presentation on “What is Modern Quilting”. I’ll bring this quilt finished too! If you live in the area, I hope you will come!

Faith, I friggin love this quilt top. I didn’t really fancy chicopee until I saw this. I’m not in your class, but I might have to come and look at it in person at some point over the weekend!

Yea for partial seams
. Wish I could be there at the sewing summit. I have family in Naperville! Wish I lived closer to a big city that had a modern quilt guild… Great quilt, and have fun at the class!
Love this quilt so much Faith!

Lovely! Riley Blake.
I’m drooling over this, Faith! It is sublime.
Love this quilt, color, design…….wonderful.
Love this quilt. This would be beautiful in a lot of different color ways…is there going to be a pattern for this?
Wish I did live in the area so I could come. Love the quilt!
I love that quilt. It’s so colorful and happy.
What a lovely quilt top. I so wish i lived closer to attend your class. Sigh…
Oh-Mur-Gosh! Love this one to death!
This is gorgeous, Faith! How many solid background colors do you have in this piece? Is it just gray and white, or is there an off-white as well? I REALLY like how the whites and grays make some blocks recede and others come forward; it makes it so much more interesting.
PARTIAL seams? The more I learn, the more I realize just how much I still don’t know. I’m probably a thousand miles from Naperville. Any chance you might do a tutorial on the partial seams here on your blog, pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top?
Thank you Rebecca! I used about 4 or 5 neutrals. I could definitely see doing a tutorial on partial seams on my blog after the Sewing Summit.
I LOVE this quilt!! So gorgeous, like everything you do!
I love this. Are you going to offer the pattern?
I hope hope hope you are going to do a pattern/tutorial/sew along, or something, here online for those of us not going to Sewing Summit. When I was scrolling through things on my iphone, this quilt just popped off the screen! It is gorgeous–the colors, design, everything!
I’d never heard of partial seams either. Neat! I hope you do decide to drop a little tutorial after TSS.
