String Quilt Top Complete
Just a little sneak peek at the Good Folks string quilt I’ve been working on for…well, forever! I finished the top last night. My daughter said the fabric looked princessy, which I can only assume is the highest compliment that can be paid to me by an almost 3 year old girl.

It looks beautiful! Can’t wait to see it quilted.
Gorgeous! How will you quilt it?
I’m not sure yet! I was thinking initially I would do diagonal lines, in the ditch on both sides of the white and then in the opposite direction too. But then I started to think I would do free motion, using a variegated thread. I’ve changed my mind on the color of the backing (a surprise!) so I have a bit of time to figure it out, as I need to either order some fabric online or lug the kiddos to the quilt store.
Just stunning! Well done, so much work but the result is worth it.
This is beautiful! I have attempted a few string blocks in the past…Did you make your foundation larger and then square it up to the finished size you wanted? It seems my blocks ended up shrinking up a bit if I remember correctly…
I followed this method from Ashley over at Film in the Fridge. The strips are all longer than the paper and then you cut off the ends when you are done. It’s great!
Gorgeous! Good Folks is probably my new favorite AMH line and you make all those fabrics *sing* – I can’t wait to see it quilted!
