String Quilt Top Complete

Just a little sneak peek at the Good Folks string quilt I’ve been working on for…well, forever!  I finished the top last night.  My daughter said the fabric looked princessy, which I can only assume is the highest compliment that can be paid to me by an almost 3 year old girl.

Gorgeous! How will you quilt it?

I’m not sure yet! I was thinking initially I would do diagonal lines, in the ditch on both sides of the white and then in the opposite direction too. But then I started to think I would do free motion, using a variegated thread. I’ve changed my mind on the color of the backing (a surprise!) so I have a bit of time to figure it out, as I need to either order some fabric online or lug the kiddos to the quilt store. :-)

This is beautiful! I have attempted a few string blocks in the past…Did you make your foundation larger and then square it up to the finished size you wanted? It seems my blocks ended up shrinking up a bit if I remember correctly…
