This is What Creativity Looks Like…I Think
What a mess. Not surprising, December is (as usual) not a good month for getting things done. Most of my free time is spent doing holiday related things and on the weekends, I just like to hang with my family instead of by myself in the sewing room. Oh, and my two year old thinks he’s done napping.
So, that not only means that projects don’t get done very quickly, but also that the sewing room doesn’t get straightened up.

But I did make some progress today. The Echo quilt top you see on the floor in the above photo is now finished *and* I managed to squeeze in the back too. Next up, basting! I also finished that Jane Market Bag you see half done (gift for my daughter’s preschool teacher). I totally want to keep it for myself.
I finished all the rows in my A Stitch in Color mini square quilt top. Now just to sew the rows together. I hope everyone else is having an equally productive Monday!

weird question here: Can you say what color your walls are?
That’s not a weird question – it’s hard to find good paint colors! It’s from Home Depot – Behr paint – color is called Castlepath.
It’s always so fun to get a peak into someone else’s work space! I just received my layer cake of A Stitch in Color today. yippee!
Love your sewing space Faith! More often than not mine looks like this too
I love the mini quilt on the wall. What are the blocks hanging on on the wall? How are they held up there.
Just a giant piece of batting tacked to the wall.
Come on, little two-year old, naps are still AWESOME!! Tell that little person to reconsider naptime or else Santa might not come and visit!
Busy, busy! Alas, I was at work today – I’d much rather have been sewing!
faith, it looks so clean! my sewing room look like a bomb went off!

Heh… I don’t even have a sewing room anymore. The whole loft looks like a bomb went off. I love seeing other people’s sewing spaces. So cool.
Your sewing Area looks so orderly to me. Mine has lots of stacks and piles of things other than sewing too. Hang in there with your 2 yo
wow, you should see my sewing room, I can hardly get in there atm. Yours looks lovely and clean.
What? They stop napping @ 2?! You have some great WIPs right now. I too need some organization in my sewing room
As least you can see your floor! Mine has piles of fabric sorted… and projects I am HOPING to get done by Christmas. if not it’s the good old ‘I am making you… ” cards!
I love seeing several projects going at once, it shows that I’m not the only one with many things going on at once!
Your little one may not nap, but maybe you could suggest ‘quiet time’ where he needs to stay on his bed and read a book, and put a timer on it. Usually they fall asleep
If you think that’s messy…I’m scared what you’d call my space! Great job on making some progress on your projects! It’s the little step that help get things done.
Oh my, your space makes my space look even messier!!! I think sometimes a mess is a sign of creativity, though – or at least productivity!! I love what you’re doing with your Stitch in Color fabrics, those neutrals are an awesome balance for the loud colors there, and your Echo quilt is looking super fab too!
I’ve got a small little room off my living room ~ I think it must have been used for a little library or something (house built in 1911) and it is so messy with so much I hardly know how I manage to make all the things I do. One of my goals this year is to clean up after every project and put things away before I go to bed (don’t know how I’ll ever manage because I tend to be messy). I can only hope.
Love your sewing room ~ it looks lovely ~ and the quilts look lovely too. I’ve got some of that Echo fabric and still waiting to cut into it.
What is the quilt that is on the floor but leaning on the wall?
Can’t wait to see your Echo quilt
Hi there! That is a quilt top I made a couple months ago that is in desperate need of a back.

May I just say that your workspace is NOT a mess….you can still find the floor!!
It looks great to me!! I just finished repainting what I had hoped would be my sewing room in a cheerful butter yellow. I even have that 4×4 bookshelf thingie you have ready to move into it for my stash and supplies! Then my beloved daughter graduated from college and hasn’t found a job yet. Guess who’s moving home and back to her old room? With 2 dog, 2 snakes, a frilled lizard and a gecko (biology degree/animal behavior…) So, I’m still confined to a corner in my bedroom. Sigh!
