An Heirloom Quilt Top

I should really title this post, “What I was working on when I should have been packing for the Sewing Summit.” But that is a bit wordy. After cutting into my Heirloom fabric for the Dresden mini quilt, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer to make something larger out of it. I first saw this design on Ashley’s blog. It’s such a great pattern to showcase prints.

I cut my squares to 7.5″ (unfinished) and my sashing is 1.75″ wide (unfinished). The sashing is Kona Stone. I think it’s just a beautiful quilt for fall this year, which has arrived in full force here in Chicago. This is the Morton Arboretum.

I hope to finish this quilt when I return from the Sewing Summit! I leave bright and early Friday morning and won’t land back in Chicago until midnight Sunday night. I can’t wait! I plan on blogging all about it when I return, but for those of you that can’t wait, I’m sure I will also be updating on Twitter while I am there. Have a great weekend everyone! (And don’t forget to enter the Pure Elements giveaway – I’ll pick a winner tonight!)

it’s gorgeous! I’ve been drooling over heirloom, you picked a fabulous pattern for it.
My favorite colorway! Love this simple design…would look great with some other large-scale prints like LouLouThi… hmmmm.
Oooh, that is beautiful. And that shot in the tree – perfect. Thanks for the eye-candy, Faith.

love this quilt! now I need me some of that fabric!
Funny thing… this is exactly what I plan to do with my FQ bundle of Heirloom, only I was thinking of doing the squares about 9″. At least I know it looks fabulous before I even start!
So pretty- yea fall! Love the tree shot too.
That is a lovely sight, I am loving the grey sashes. The prints are just right and it has great balance, well done!
This is really beautiful. I’ve loved the Heirlooms fabrics ever since I saw them, especially this colourway. It looks fantastic with the prints showcased like this.
That’s gorgeous! And the Kona Stone is the perfect solid…it tempers the bright colours in the Heirloom prints in just the right way.
Gorgeous! I really want to buy this line, but have been behaving myself so far. I don’t think I will be able to hold out much longer. I never thought I would be one for yellow and orange!
It’s wonderful! I just purchased some of these as a FQ bundle with the intent to make a quilt for my hubby (his fave colour is orange). Thanks for the inspiration!!!
I bought a little of all of the Heirloom colors/patterns. Happy Birthday to me! And this may be just the quilt for it. Thanks for sharing. It’s beautiful
