Secret Garden
This week I received some of Sandi Henderson’s new line, Secret Garden, in the mail. I purchased this Fat Quarter set from Fresh Squeezed Fabrics. Isn’t it beautiful? This the the midnight colorway.
I also received a Free Spirit Designer Solids color card in the mail today! This was purchased from Hawthorne Threads. I think they sold out about 24 hours after they sent their newsletter out announcing they were in stock. Keep an eye out for more! I recently worked with these fabrics for the first time and I really liked them (more than Kona solids). You’ll be seeing more of them on my blog!

Oh wow loving Secret Garden! I’ve only used the FS solids once and think I prefer Kona. The FS have a slight sheen to them and felt slightly ‘cheaper’ than Kona – although I paid more for it than I would Kona.
I got the same set from Fresh Squeezed a couple of weeks ago and am working on finishing my quilt top… it’s inspired a bit by your Rainchino Rails!
I can’t wait to see what you do with yours.
It’s always interesting to hear comments about fabrics used, and comparisons. What is it you like about FS solids over kona? I haven’t used either yet but solids are in my near future, so some thoughts would be helpful. Ta.
I think they feel a lot nicer. Smoother. They do have a slight sheen as Jan mentioned above, but I like that.
Secret Garden is gorgeous! I’m anxious to see what you create with it.
Is there a FS solid that is near Kona coal?
It looks like Slate Gray is a close match.
I saw Secret Garden the other day and immediately fell in love with it. I think I`m going to have to get it and make a quilt for my mum.
I love using FS Solids when I am using FS prints because they match the colors So Well! It makes ordering fabric so much easier and I can mix and match across FS lines and know the dyes are more likely to coordinate. I still love Kona for many other projects such as Japanese Prints and other matte/linen blend fabrics. Glad you found them and can’t wait to see what you do with them!
I got one of the color cards too, thanks to your tip! : ) Free Spirit has some great colors.
I love the idea of the colour card – a very useful resource!
