Summer Sampler Series Quilt Top

I finished my quilt top for the Summer Sampler Series! I took everyone’s advice and added sashing and cornerstones. As I was staring at my solids trying to figure out the right choice, my eyes settled on Free Spirit Designer Solids Nugray. I think it is a bit unexpected but added some balance to the beautiful bright colors of Pat Bravo’s Pure Elements. The cornerstones are fabrics from the blocks, tying the whole thing together. The sashing is 2″ wide and the cornerstones are 2″ squares. I can’t wait to quilt this and share the finished product with you!

Oh it looks amazing Faith! Really truly fabtastic
Wow, this quilt is going to be incredible! I think grey was the perfect choice here. It really frames the blocks well. I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but your blocks look like they should be painted on barns. You know the ones I’m talking about? Lovely.
I know just what you are talking about! I actually went on a quilt barn “tour” yesterday and have lots of pictures to share later this week.
Absolutely stunning. The sashing and cornerstones are perfect.

Oh I really like it. I have all the instructions and hope to do one too. Very nicely done and I love your sashing and corner stones, great choice of colors.

I didn’t add any sashing and cornerstones, and I’ve been rethinking that decision. Your quilt is lovely and will probably push me over the edge, making me pull out (Jack the) seam ripper. Just gorgeous

Fantastic! The gray and cornerstones really tie it all together and gives the eye a nice place to rest.
Beautiful pictures! Okay, first I was going to use all the Pat Bravo solids. But then I didn’t want to copy you. So I decided to use SOME of the solids with Joel Dewberry Heirloom. But now I’m back to wanting a quilt that looks just like this one! the grey sashing and colored cornerstones look awesome! I guess I’ll use the Heirloom for something else…

Do you allow swearing on your blog? Because this quilt kicks @**!!
I have been wanting to use solids in my work for a while now and can never seem to get them into things. But I’ve been watching your quilt come together and I think I’m going to do some pieces that are purely solids, to help me get into the game. Cuz you’ve shown that it can create amazing results. I really like it.
You are so right, Faith, the nugray was the perfect color for the sashing. The little cornerstones just pop. Stunning! BTW, I love your picture setting with all the holsteins lined up in the background.
