Finca Perle Cotton
If you spend anytime on Flickr you’ve noticed a lot of really beautiful hand quilting emerging. I’ve decided to give it a try myself. Corey clued me in to Yarn Bazaar and I last weekend I ordered a variety of colors from them. These are Finca Perle Cotton, size 8.
I plan on using Anna Maria Horner’s tutorial to get started.
I also picked up the Finca color card. It’s really nice – well worth the $12. I just hate trying to match colors on the computer monitor. If anyone is looking for a thread to match a particular fabric, just let me know and if I have the fabric, I will do a comparison for you!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We are going to be doing some work outside now that it has stopped raining. Hope it is nice wherever you may be!

So very pretty! You’re going to love it =). Thanks for the link, these are WAY cheaper than DMC perle cotton. I’ll have to try them!
thanks for sharing that link. I ordered some pearle cottons online this afternoon, never having hand quilted a stitch in my life before! I thik this tutorial will help me out too
What’s the difference? Have you notices any quality differences?
I ask since I use DMC perle cotton 8. I get them for 2.26 at 123 stitch.com .
I’m so glad that I could help! You picked out such gorgeous colors and I agree, that color card is a life saver!! =)
So, so pretty! I can’t wait to see what you stitch up with those gorgeous colors.
I’m looking forward to the good weather this weekend, too!
Lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely!
Looking forward to seeing your stitching/quilting with the Finca yarns. You have a nice rainbow of colours there and a very kind offer to colour match.
Love the pics of the threads, and thanks for the site link. Can’t wait to check it out! I love color cards, my Kona Cotton card is indispensable!
LOL, I’ve been hand quilting a twin size quilt with FIVE other ladies, we meet once a month for several hours of quilting and we’ve been working on the same quilt for over TWO years!! : )
love these! thanks for the link, I’ve been wanting to order some, so this was a great reminder!
Just lovely! I have wanted to try hand quilting for quite some time now and your post inspired me to do so
Such pretty colours. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.
Okay, I swear this is the last comment I’ll leave today- I just keep finding such good stuff here! What a treasure of a blog you have.
I’ve been looking for a good perle cotton source forever – thanks!
So were you serious when you said you could color match fabric?? I am wanting to join a quilt along I saw on Clover and Violet. I have some Central Park by Kate Spain but I didn’t know how to go about choosing my thread colors. Do you have any Central Park? I need to find 9 colors to go with it. Here is what I am planning on doing with it.

You just might have made my day.
Laura I am totally serious.
I actually only have 3 prints of the Central Park left but I can match to those. I have the orange and purple background with the green trees, the blue geometric/rectangle print and the orange print with white flowers. I actually do have a pretty good memory of the grey/tan and light yellow so I can recommend based on those as well.
I’d suggest the following numbers Finca Perle:
Light Yellow – #1137
Orange – #1237
Green/Olive – #4812
Off White – #3000
Dark Purple – #2246
Light Purple – #2397
Dark Turquoise – #3664
Light Turquoise – #3556
Grey – #8742
Dark Brown – #8083
I know that’s more than you need, but hey, it’s good to have options, right?
Hope that helps!
Faith. You are awesome!!!! I can’t wait to order them. This quilt along looks so fun.
P.S. I have had fun exploring your blog. The quilts are awesome especially the rainbow ones. I love anything with rainbows.
Hi Faith, just found you beautiful blog through searching for a good source of perle cotton. Was wondering whether you could help me out in matching colours for a quilt I’ve made using Bonnie and Camille’s “Bliss” fabrics. I need 4 colours.
Catherine – thank you so much! I wish I could help but I don’t have those fabrics.
I keep clicking back to this post while wandering around blogland, and am just floored by how pretty your selection is each time. I think that I will finally get myself a set! But, there are so many colors there, I just couldn’t decide. Would you mind listing the ones in your pretty pyramid? You have such a great variety, that I think it would be a nice pack to start with. I know this is a somewhat old post, so I hope you see this!
I really enjoy your blog. Full of colors and great information. I was wondering if you could suggest a few colors for my Strawberry Fields (Moda) quilt… I’m thinking about red, green and blue.
) Thanks!
Hi Kim! Unfortunately I don’t have those fabrics for color matching.
Hi there! I was wondering what the orange color is on your picture of Finca Perle Cotton, size 8? I need a regular orange and not sure what shade to order. Thank you!
Hi Cindy! It’s Tangerine (1237). Hope that helps!
I am looking for a couple of colours….to match the bright blue and green the A Stitch in Color for Moda. Do you have any?
Thanks..in anticipation!
I just realised I saw your recent quilt so I should have known you do!
Hope your Christmas crafting is progressing!
A colour card would be so handy right now – thanks for your offer to help!
I am looking for thread to match Domestic Bliss. I’m hoping to hand quilt my Hexy MF and I am having trouble matching threads via my screen.
Thanks so much!
