A bit of this-and-that for you today. First, I wanted to share that I did a little interview over at Hudson Valley Quilts. There is a pattern giveaway in the post, so be sure to go check it out and enter.
I’ve still been busy working on my Arkansas Traveler quilt, but I did manage to finish the paper piecing and trimming. What a relief! I’m hoping to get the blocks sewn together this week, but I’m leaving for Quilt Market on Thursday so I’m not sure there will be time. I’ll share if I do though!
As much as I love this quilt I’m working on, and I really think the finished product will be perfect in my house, I do miss sewing with a big variety of colors. So much so that I put together a bundle for whatever is next (the photo at the top of this post). It started with ordering some fabrics and then I added from my stash. The new fabrics in the stack are from October Afternoon’s Sidewalks line and Joel Dewberry’s Bungalow line and are currently available in shops. You may also recognize some of Violet Craft’s Waterfront Park in there. She put such great stash builders into her latest line – must haves!
If any shop owners are heading to Houston this week for Quilt Market, we will be doing a Schoolhouse Session on Friday at 3:05 to show off Vintage Quilt Revival. I hope you will come check it out!

Welcome to the final stop on the Alison Glass Sun Print and Clover Sunshine Blog Tour! I was lucky enough to spend the last week working with some beauties from both of Alison’s latest lines. I really love the color palette she created with these prints. And text lovers rejoice – there is an entire rainbow of text prints.
I decided to pair my fabrics light print/dark print and create Shoo Fly blocks. These are really simple, striking blocks. Svetlana of s.o.t.a.k. handmade has a tutorial for making a 12″ square. Mine are slightly smaller 9″ finished blocks, so instead of cutting 4-1/2″ individual squares I cut 3-1/2″ ones.
Even though I’m the last stop of the blog hop, if you haven’t visited everyone else be sure to check them out for inspiration!
For one of you lucky readers, there is also a giveaway today on my blog! Just leave one comment for a chance to win a fat quarter stack of a colorful selection of Alison’s fabrics (similar to below) and a copy of her pattern, Color Plus.
Good luck everyone! I’ll pick a winner Sunday evening, October 13th.
++++ Closing comments to pick a winner! ++++
The winner is #262, Linda Crawford! Linda said “Love these fabrics, what great colors. Love your shoo-fly too. Thanks for hosting such a great give away.”
Thank you Linda and I hope you enjoy your fabric and pattern! I’ll be in contact for your mailing information. Thank you all for your comments and visiting!

What’s better than starting one new project this week? Starting two! Yes, I’m *finally* jumping on the Swoon bandwagon. I’ve wanted to make one ever since I saw Angela’s Good Folks Swoon quilt. I knew the blocks were big. But I don’t think anything prepares you for the size until you actually make one.
I only get my yardstick out for 3 things:
1. Measuring those big Chicago snow storms.
2. Reaching toys the kids throw under our King sized bed.
3. Showing people how big a Swoon quilt block is. 24-1/2″!
I’m planning on mixing some prints from Avalon by Fig Tree & Co. with others from my stash. I actually haven’t picked all my fabrics yet, so there still may be a bit more ordering. I am using Kona Snow for my background. I’m not going to stress too much over a timeline for this one, but can’t wait to make more blocks and share my progress along the way.
