Vintage Quilt Revival Trunk Shows at Pottery Barn

I have some very fun news to share with you today! Last December, just after Christmas, Katie, Lee and I received an email that was probably one of the most exciting things to land in my inbox in a very long time. Someone from Pottery Barn’s corporate office had seen Vintage Quilt Revival and wanted to know if we were interested in sharing our quilts in some local stores as an event. I think all three of us were in shock. Seriously, I thought maybe someone was pranking us! But it was true!

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share our quilts and ideas on design with a larger and potentially new-to-quilting audience. I really hope that if you live in the area, you will stop by. I also think this might be a great opportunity to introduce your friends to the world of quilting and handmade, in a familiar and comfortable atmosphere. Plus, the Chicago and Arlington events are serving wine – if that motivates anyone!

Lee and I will be sharing our quilts together in both the Chicago western suburbs and Milwaukee area on the following dates:

Saturday, March 8th 1:00-2:00 pm
Pottery Barn, Downtown Naperville – Naperville, IL
Phone: 630.369.4260

Saturday, March 8th 4:00-5:00 pm
Pottery Barn, Oakbrook Center – Oak Brook, IL
Phone: 630. 572.3307

Saturday, March 22nd 1:00-3:00 pm
Pottery Barn, Mayfair Mall – Wauwatosa, WI
Phone: 414.771.1402

Katie will be sharing her quilts in Arlington, Virginia on the following date:

Saturday, March 22nd 1:00-3:00 pm
Pottery Barn, Market Common at Clarendon – Arlington, VA
Phone: 703.465.9425

I hope to see some of you there! And I’d love for you to spread the word if you know of anyone in our area. 🙂

Oh, I was so excited when I saw Arlington. . . I thought you meant Texas!! Virginia’s a bit far for me to convince the hubby to road trip, but CONGRATULATIONS! What an awesome compliment to the book 🙂

Here is an invitation to NYC. We have a Metro Mod Guild and the very fabulous Quilt Gallery at City Quilter. Your book is terrific. I have a guest room!

I was so excied to read this since Mayfair is doable for me. Then I saw the dates. I am leaving for the Caribbean the week before. After this winter it’s hard to first choice. I will keep an eye open for future events. Love the book.

Congratulations to the authors of Vintage Quilt Revival! You must be extremely excited! This is certainly something to stoke up your fires of creativity! Wow, these events are coming up soon! I’ll wish for good weather for these dates. Too bad I live too far away to visit these exhibits. Please post some photos of the event when you return home for all of us who are unable to travel to enjoy.

    Way to go, girls!

Oh, Phooey! Why no quilt show in North Carolina from the Vintage Modern Quilters? Of course the cynical girl in me wonders what PB is hoping to get out of this. Their buyers were crawling all over the interior design show in Paris, and the European vendors there told me that PB always rips off the designs of smaller companies and then undercut them on price. What would you say if PB wanted to license your quilts for mass production in India or China so they could sell them in their catalog?

Hi! I talked to the very nice manager at my local store and she says they do events all the time. A nice way to bring the community into the store and support a local artist/designer. You should check your local store for events – you might be surprised! I’m not too worried about them inviting us in and then “stealing” a design from us. Of course if they were interested in licensing designs, I would talk with them about it. Several designers do license their work through stores like Pottery Barn (Denyse Schmidt comes to mind), Land of Nod, Crate and Barrel, West Elm, etc.

So I have to tell you…I have been telling my hubby about this book. I am a 30 year old mom of a 22 month old and a 7 month old. Needless to say I am quilting vicariously through you all right now. So, I digress…I have told my hubby how much I want this book and how amazing it looks and why its so important to show younger quilters that quilts can be fun and exciting and amazing. I just saw this post and showed him the cover of the book again. He said “oh thats so great” with much enthusiasm. Then I told him you had been contacted by Pottery Barn while I was screaming with Joy for you. He fist pumped and me and did a victory lap around the house. It was hilarious because he totally doesn’t get it. But I thought I would share his joy…and mine…with you! So many many congrats!

Received my copy of your book from Amazon recently and absolutely love it. As I live in Australia it was a must have international purchase. Thank you for the inspirational designs. I hope your events are a great success.
