Unraveled ~ Scraps, Inc

Unraveled, a quilt by Faith Jones for Scraps, Inc : Fresh Lemons Quilts

About a year ago, I was invited to contribute a project to an upcoming book featuring modern, scrappy quilts. I really love scrappy so of course I said yes. The book had another bonus as well, it was being published by Lucky Spool ~ a new company created by the extremely talented Susanne Woods. Susanne is something of a legend in the craft book publishing industry, known for making absolutely beautiful books and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her.

Scraps, Inc : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Scraps, Inc.Vol.1 is a collection of 15 quilt patterns from all sorts of talented designers that I’m sure you will recognize – Allison Harris, Amy Ellis, Lee Heinrich, Amy Smart, Camille Roskelley to name a few!

Today I finally get to share my quilt with you, Unraveled. Created last winter, Unraveled is a simple and clean design that has fun with negative space. I know a lot of my patterns are paper pieced…but this one is not. (Some of you are probably cheering right now!) This quilt pattern is great for beginners on up.

I used a collection of plum, aqua and chartreuse prints, and I’m quite pleased with the combination. Unraveled measures 68″ x 85″ and is quilted in a free motion meandering design.

This book looks great! Love your quilt! Went to order but looks like Taunton’s website is having a problem this AM. I’ll try again later. Thanks!

Great combination of colors. Yes I love that your pattern is not paper pieced…although that’s on my list of new techniques to try in 2015.

I’m putting this book on my Christmas list and hope that it’s as beautiful and inspiring as Vintage Quilt Revival, which Santa brought me last year. Can’t wait to pour over it Christmas morning!

Wow! What a list of quilters, you included of course! I love all the negative space, too, and I’m really glad you showed a close up of the block–from a distance it looks really intimidating.

Awesome quilt. Innovative design that looks more difficult than it is, I suspect. I ordered my book already. Thought Santa might need a little help this year!

Wonderful. At first I thought, ‘oh, look, a modern take on the Irish Chain.’ Then I saw the subtle but sure size differentiation between the diamonds — love it.

Unraveled is a beautiful quilt design. I also love your colour choices. Each quilt design I have seen from Scraps, Inc. is awesome. As I love scraps I must acquire a copy. I am really glad to see this is Volume 1. Thanks for sharing.
