The Traveling Quilts – Round 1

Jacquie's Blocks

You may remember my post a couple months ago about a new bee I’m in, The Traveling Quilts. Well, we were going to keep our quilt additions a secret to surprise the bee member at the end of the year. That lasted about 3 weeks. LOL So now that we are NOT keeping things a surprise anymore, I can share with you!

For round 1, I received the below blocks from Jacquie from Tallgrass Prairie Studio.

Traveling Quilts: Jacquie Blocks - Before

She started her quilt using bright colors and improvisational piecing. My additions are at the top of this post. I continued her use of purple and small punches of bright colors. I am really happy with how they turned out, and now they are in the hands of Ashley to continue the quilt top. I have Penny’s quilt blocks now and can’t wait to share what I’m working on for Round 2!

Lovely and exciting bee! I wonder if they will be quilty versions of the game Rumor by the end of the year? Yours look nice with hers, with a little shift of the colors used. Yay!

I kinda think this is one of the coolest bee ideas I’ve ever heard of. And I’m thrilled you all repealed the no-show, no-tell rule. 🙂 So much fun. Great blocks, btw.

Lol, we’re still keeping ours secret, but we’re only 1 extra round in, so who knows how long we’ll last!

I can see that you based your blocks on Jacquie’s but you have managed to put your ‘signature’ on them. Different shade of colours; different colour emphasis and different orientation. Great work. Can’t wait to see the finished top and then the whole quilt.

Your additions look great! I am participating in a progressive quilt along at “Around the Bend and Across the Pond” flickr group and it’s so much fun! Our group is free form and there are row robin and medallion type groups too. Can’t wait to see all your group’s quilts.
