Art Gallery Fabrics Fat Quarter Gang ~ The Mod Stack Placemat

Hello everyone! I’d like to start off today by thanking everyone for their kind comments on my last post about Vintage Quilt Revival. We are so excited about the book and can’t wait to share more as the year progresses. You guys are really the best!

Today I’m happy to share with you my last installment for the Art Gallery Fabrics Fat Quarter Gang, the Mod Stack Placemat.

Mod Stack Placemat Pattern by Fresh Lemons Quilts : Faith

These placemats feature fabrics from three of Art Gallery Fabrics newest collections, Color Me Retro by designer Jeni Baker, Textures by designer Angela Walters and Carnaby Street by the wonderful Pat Bravo.

This placemat pattern is great for beginners. I paired the fabrics with a classic linen. My backing happens to be my daughter’s favorite print from the Carnaby Street line, making the placemat reversible.

Solids Sneak Peek

Off-Centered Squares Solids

The beginning of my next quilt – and my first solids quilt! For some reason I have never made a quilt from all solids but it was one of the things on my list of goals for 2011. I’m using my Off-Centered Squares pattern which I used last month with Anna Maria Horner’s Innocent Crush line.

Eight of the solids used in this new quilt are from this Moda cross weave bundle at The Fabric Quarter. (Flamingo, Lipstick, Scarlet, Coral, Apple, Spearmint, Ocean, Sky.) The tan is Essex Linen in Sand, purchased from Keri at Sew Deerly Loved on Etsy. The white is Kona White. The colors are so fresh and the fabric is lightweight, I think this will be the perfect quilt for Spring.

My iron died this week which really put a damper on my ability to sew much of anything, but a new one has arrived so I am back in business. More to come soon!

New Pillows!

pillow detail

I think I’ve mentioned before that one of my favorite things about know how to sew is being able to make something like pillows and change the look of a room in an afternoon. And for cheap.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided I needed a change and made a set of these pillows. The center fabric is Metro Living Circles in Chocolate. Then I used a couple Essex Linens (in Putty and Sand) for the first time. These are great fabrics and way easier to use than pure linen. I bought them on Etsy from Sew Deerly Loved. The third solid is Kona Charcoal and I also used that for the backing. The outer ring is from Laura Gunn’s Poppy collection. I quilted these in diagonal lines about 1/2″ spacing. I used my new Hera marker to make a line down the center and then quilted from there. It matches my house perfectly, love it!

New pillows

Speaking of Laura Gunn, have you seen her new Magnolia Lane line? *Very* pretty, I especially love the Magnolia Branch print. The painted canvas prints look like great basics.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I am working on some baby loveys this week for the shop, and also finishing up a charm pack quilt. Talk to you soon!
