Summer Sparkle Quilt Along ~ Week 1

Summer Sparkle Quilt Along with Fresh Lemons Quilts

I know, two posts in one day…crazy! 🙂 But today marks the first week of my Summer Sparkle Quilt Along over at Bernina’s We All Sew blog. If you have ever wanted to make a 4th of July quilt…or even just love stars…this is your chance! The Summer Sparkle Quilt is a Sawtooth Star design that uses color gradients in a fun way. I used Color Block Ombre fabric from Vanessa Christenson of V & Co’s Color Me Happy line for Moda. Isn’t it great?

Each week directions will be on Bernina’s blog, but I will also post reminders over here. The Summer Sparkle Quilt Along will follow the below schedule:

June 2nd / Week 1Fabric Requirements and Cutting
June 9th / Week 2Block Assembly
June 16th / Week 3Quilt Top Assembly and Quilting

I hope you will join along!

** Someone emailed me to call to my attention that there are a few items that were left off/changed on the cutting instructions for my pattern. I’ve let Bernina know and they will correct, but hold off on cutting until I update this. (Feel free to go ahead and order your fabric though). 🙂 ** Looks like everything is now up and correct over there!

Great design! Since I have not done much sewing in the last three months, due to my wrist injury, I think this needs to be the project to get me back into the grove. I’ll be checking with my therapist tomorrow! Congrats on working w/Bernina!

This looks so fresh! I think I might try it with Christmas colors since I bought so many Christmas fabrics last winter on sale…Don’t we all love stars in the winter? Thank you for this great help!

Hi Faith! What an awesome quilt! I have been looking for just the right star quilt for many months and I love your best! It’s for a 65th anniversary celebration in April! I’ll have time to make one for me and one for the celebration!

Love this quilt Faith! I have gone and bookmarked it. It always amazes me how people use traditional well used blocks and come up with something new and unique. You’re clever people!

How do I order the fabric? On the V and Co website, when I type Color Block Ombre fabric it results in no products to show. Please guide me to the right sight because I am excited to do this quilt along.

Hi MarLane! Vanessa doesn’t actually sell the fabric (I don’t think), she is just the designer. The fabric is manufactured by Moda. You can check any fabric shop online and just search “Ombre” fabric and see what they have. 🙂
