Summer Sampler 2016 ~ Week 5

Summer Sampler 2016 Quilt Along

I can’t believe we are already on Week 5 of the Summer Sampler quilt along. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I was on vacation last week. Our family explored the Pacific Northwest and it was beautiful and amazing. I somehow managed to take 2000 pictures…I’m not sure how long it will take me to go through those. All summer? 🙂

This morning I have been playing catchup. The first thing I did was sit down and stitch up the Sugarhouse block by Katie of Swim, Bike, Quilt.

I love this block, especially the fact that it came together so quickly! I’m continuing with my scrappy theme, and that is really the only part that slows me down. Unfolding, pressing, refolding for every piece is a bit tedious.

Well did you make it north of Seattle??? Mt. Baker is beautiful to 🙂 There are lots of quilters here in the far NW corner of WA. My LQS is the northernmost store in the state!! Oh and did I mention the most fun to 🙂
Just sayin….looking at some of your pictures it looks like you had a terrific vaca. Our part of America is IMHO the most beautiful. Disclaimer…I am predjudiced. I moved here from the dessert that is So Cal and never looked back. I think you’ll visit again.

Hi Vickie! You are lucky – you live in a beautiful place! We didn’t make it as far north as you (in the US anyway).

We started with one night in Portland, drove south a couple hours and then cut over to the Oregon coast. Then we drove north (starting at Cape Perpetua) to Canon Beach (stayed there another night). From there we headed towards Kalaloch (Olympic National Park) to stay in the cabins and explore. Did the coast there (Ruby Beach) and Hoh Rainforest. Drove north to check out more of the park and went to Victoria, BC for a couple nights. Then ferried back and drove over to Mt Rainier for a couple nights. LOTS of driving! lol And still only saw probably a fraction of what there is to see. But really filled up those 8 days and just loved it. 🙂

Next time, you need to take a vacation to the east coast. From Florida to Maine, there is sunshine and happiness
I like your blocks, they are cute.
Weaving. Yes, looms are good. We had a summer of weaving a couple of times over the years…. long ago.

    Virginia is God’s Country.
