Splash of Color Blog Hop : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Welcome everyone! Today is my stop on the blog hop, celebrating designer and quilter Jackie Kunkel’s new book, Splash of Color. Jackie is known throughout the quilting community as a master foundation paper piecer and excellent teacher – check out her YouTube channel!

Splash of Color is filled with 12 quilted projects that each echo the title, created with bright colors and exciting patterns. There are a variety of stunning designs, ranging from curves to patchwork squares to foundation paper piecing.

Jumpin’ Jax by Jackie Kunkel

I am such a sucker for rainbows and rainbow gradients. And stars! I’m naturally drawn to quilts with any or all of these design elements.

For several quilts in the book, Jackie shares how her patterns look in alternate colorways. I find this so helpful when planning to make a quilt my own.

Splash of Color is 80 pages and contains all the templates you need to complete the projects. Jackie also provides an explanation of curved piecing.

I have only used paper piecing to make objects, not geometric shapes. This would surprise many because, as an engineer, I am always being accused of using too many straight lines!

Hello Faith, I’m loving the cover of Jackie’s Book “Splash of Colour” as it reminds me a lot of your “Poinsettia Quilt” that you made a while ago to which I bought the pattern. I’d love to explore Jackie’s book further if I was lucky! Got my little fingers crossed. Julie:julie714@adam.com.au
