Palete Cleansing

Palete Cleansing : Fresh Lemons Quilts

I’m back! Those of you that follow me on Instagram know that I just spent ten wonderful days in Ireland with my husband to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was a great break, a beautiful country with just the nicest people. I missed my kids a lot though – it was the longest I’ve ever been away from them (by far!) I’m happy to be home, getting back into the routine of soccer and sewing on scout patches.

Ireland : Fresh Lemons Quilts

I always feel slightly lost when I return to my sewing machine after a break. I feel like I need a bit of a project cleanse before tackling something large. There’s just something about simple squares that helps calm my mind.

I pulled some Fall inspired colors, mostly from Leah Duncan, and paired them with an Essex linen. I can’t get enough of using a textured neutral lately.

This probably won’t be a large quilt. Maybe a large pillow? I’m going to enjoy piecing it together this week.

Love these beautiful colors. Is the linen easy to work with? I really like the look of it, but always a bit afraid.

How fun to get to go to Ireland for your anniversary! I was just sitting here thinking of which storage “thing” to pull up and cut out to get it kitted for future attention for a palette cleanse before I tackle my next priority work of the week (really need the mental break – perfect term for the endeavor!) I like your version of doing a palette cleanse better – more fun for sure! And the project you’re working on for it is really delightful. šŸ™‚

Oh this looks great! I have these exact prints (the Leah Duncan ones anyway) set aside for a future Swoon … I was thinking white background but seeing your choice of linen colour is making me think twice.
