National Parks Birthday Club ~ Month 2

National Parks Birthday Club by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery : Fresh Lemons Quilts

As the daylight gets shorter and the weather cools down, I continue to have fun working on the National Parks Birthday Club by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. I had a bit of a “oh no!” moment this month when I discovered I miscounted my top border by one. Yep, amateur hour over here! So far it hasn’t been a big deal though, I just moved a couple stitches around at the top of the Yellowstone and Hawaii scenes and I don’t think it takes away from the overall design.

In my usual too-many-projects-going-at-once ways, I started two additional cross stitch patterns over the last month as well. Both are from Satsuma Street. I pretty much want to make everything in Jody’s shop. She also has some holiday sneak peeks on Instagram that are getting me excited.

I am starting out with the Washington, DC pattern from her Pretty Little City series and the Halloween Cat (my first time cross stitching on linen – eek!) I think my goal on the cat pattern will be to finish by Halloween….2017!

Once you get comfortable stitching on linen, you will never go back to Aida. You can do so many more counted thread stitches (ie not cross stitch) on linen. Your National Parks project is looking good. I got section 2 finished up last week too, including ripping out most of the word Made and redoing it since I discovered I had left an extra space in the center of the a. I’ve been stitching for years, and it still happens!

That makes me feel a bit better Karen! I’m so scared when I have to rip something out that I’m going to accidentally tear the Aida…and then what do you do? eek!

Awesome stitching! My hands won’t let do fine work anymore. We used to sing that song in grade school music class. “They” say Woody Guthrie wrote it in the 40s as a protest against private property rights as he was “thumbing” it across the country. Who knows anymore? Love the tune!
The last counted x-stitch I did was a Garfield pic- lost my place on the stitch-guide and stitched about 6-8 rows all over again! Ended up throwing it away. But Your works are lovely!
