Mini Quilt Mondays in September

Last Monday I mentioned that I was planning on making some mini quilts in September, with the plan to challenge myself with a new technique each week. I would love for you to join me! This will not be a formal quilt along, but a chance for you to try new things on your own and share them here.

Each Monday in September I will (hopefully!) post a new mini quilt and then provide a space for you to share a link to a photo or blog post of your mini as well. Don’t feel like you need to finish a quilt a week, you can post a link to your progress as well. The goal is to get outside your comfort zone and hopefully inspire each other!

Ideas for new techniques to try:

– Wonky Blocks
– Embroidery/Hand Stitching
– Paper Piecing
– Hexagons
– Applique
– Quilts with Words/Letters
– Improvisational Piecing
– Selecting Fabric Outside a Collection
– Free Motion Quilting
– Half Square Triangles
– Designing your Own Pattern
– Sewing with voile/double gauze/etc

So I hope you will join me on September 5 (Labor Day!), 12, 19, and 26. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Looking forward to this. When you posted about this the first time and I was so excited. I thought you had jumped into my mind. I need to work on my accuracy and was thinking smaller quilts was the way to go. And, I need to work on my free motion quilting and this will give me smaller quilts to practice on before tackling my larger ones.

I think it will depend on the quilt and skill I’m trying to build. I could see them anywhere form 12″x12″ to 36″x36″.

Love this idea! I have a little block that I think is asking to become a mini-quilt. This is the perfect motivation to work on it!
