Mini Quilt Mondays in September

Last Monday I mentioned that I was planning on making some mini quilts in September, with the plan to challenge myself with a new technique each week. I would love for you to join me! This will not be a formal quilt along, but a chance for you to try new things on your own and share them here.

Each Monday in September I will (hopefully!) post a new mini quilt and then provide a space for you to share a link to a photo or blog post of your mini as well. Don’t feel like you need to finish a quilt a week, you can post a link to your progress as well. The goal is to get outside your comfort zone and hopefully inspire each other!

Ideas for new techniques to try:

– Wonky Blocks
– Embroidery/Hand Stitching
– Paper Piecing
– Hexagons
– Applique
– Quilts with Words/Letters
– Improvisational Piecing
– Selecting Fabric Outside a Collection
– Free Motion Quilting
– Half Square Triangles
– Designing your Own Pattern
– Sewing with voile/double gauze/etc

So I hope you will join me on September 5 (Labor Day!), 12, 19, and 26. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    What a great idea!
I give you all the credit for my current paper piecing addiction (LOVED the Summer Sampler Series!), and can’t wait to learn more from you!

This is just what I have needed to get me past my comfort zone!
I am so excited and it sounds like something I can fit in to my schedule.
Thanks for the leadership and the great idea!
Also, I love your sneak peak as well.

Looking forward to this. When you posted about this the first time and I was so excited. I thought you had jumped into my mind. I need to work on my accuracy and was thinking smaller quilts was the way to go. And, I need to work on my free motion quilting and this will give me smaller quilts to practice on before tackling my larger ones.

Sounds like a fun idea. I’m feeling a tad overwhelmed with current commitments, but if I can join in I certainly will. For sure, I’ll be following along!

MAN! I had seen someone else post and link to mini quilt monday and thought to myself “I’m gonna get in on that!” but now I see it’s over, how sad! I think you should keep doing mini quilt monday… it’s so fun and I’m bummed I missed out on it!
