Massdrop : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Last month, website Massdrop contacted me to see if I was interested in checking out their service and products. I had heard some talk about them here and there on Instagram, so I figured, why not! Massdrop describes themselves as “an online community for enthusiasts that provides people across several communities — from audio and electronics to quilting and cooking — a place to connect, discuss their favorite products and activities, and buy those products together.”

Basically, a group of people get together to get discounts on their favorite products. And if you are reading this, some of your favorite products probably include things like quilt patterns, thread and fabric! Massdrop has an entire Crafting section where you can group buy these things. The deals and items are constantly changing – for example, right now there is a great bargain some quilting items, including a set of Aurifil thread and Anna Maria Horner’s Honor Roll fat quarter bundle.

When I initially heard about Massdrop, my first question was about payment and shipping. When are you charged? How long does it take to receive the items? How many people have to buy the item for you to get the best deal? They cover all these details on their FAQ page. (It’s important to note that all sales are final – no returns.)

I’ve subscribed to the Massdrop emails and have enjoyed watching different deals offered. If you like stash building and discounts, you might want to sign up too!

I’ve bought from Massdrop before and really like their offerings. I actually just clicked over to the Aurifil and picked up one of the sets of thread. Massdrop is limited in their offerings but for discount group buys online they’re the only place I know of. I must say their staff is also really responsive in the discussions and seem genuinely interested in bringing their users the best prices which is nice from an online company. Please do share if you find any other similar service!

I’ve bought some good deals from them–but often their fabric is not much of a bargain. Their delivery times can be slow–so don’t buy something you want/need right away.
However, they do have great customer service and are great with problems and compensation. I didn’t know they didn’t have returns–so thanks for that info.
A lot of stuff is geared for men–knives, and other stuff. Also, a lot of tech tools for those inclined.
And sine when did Auril plastic packs become $120? I don’t think so!

I agree with the previous commenters . Massdrop is great. I have purchased several times from them already and customer service is amazing. They inform you when things are delayed or when things are ready to ship. Just remember that if you do need something urgent, this is not for you.

I’ve had both good and poor experiences with the site. I think it’s important to note that they never claim to have the lowest price on their offerings. Although their MSRPs are typically correct, I’ve noticed that there are often cheaper places to get certain pieces of merchandise. I did participate in their Quick Curve Ruler drop, though, and received great deals on patterns, as well!
