Happy New Year!

Sugarplum Medallion Quilt Progress : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Happy New Year everyone! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve visited this space. I have been fully enjoying my children’s time off from school and the holiday season. Yesterday we settled back into our routine, and I finished up the Sugarplum Medallion block trimming from last month.

I’m finding it a bit tricky to sit down at the machine due to a new addition in our home – meet our new yorkie, Benzie.

Benzie the Yorkie : Fresh Lemons Quilts

I never mentioned it here on the blog, but our 12 year old yorkie Delux died last September of kidney failure. It was terrible to watch and just very, very hard on the whole family. The thought of another dog was sort of unimaginable…but a few months later I so missed having a little friend around and the joy that a pet brings.

So we have a puppy. I forgot about all that goes with a puppy – watching them constantly, the potty training…he is my little buddy and I’ve been doing some hand sewing with him nearby.

I’m sure he will be popping up here and there – if not on the blog, on Instagram. I hope all of you had a great December and are as ready as I am to welcome in a new year and fresh beginning.

    A new puppy.
I am so very sorry for the loss of your loving Delux. I know it was painful/
Pet owners we know we are not alone, and so aware of the “fine print”, but the loss is hard. My beloved Pierro, my cornish rex lovie cloud died on November 18. He got sick, and sicker. He was only 8. It was terrible, and so hard to be joyful at Christmas (mom died at the ripe old age of 93 and that was very hard too) It was like being punched hard in the stomach and then pushed down the stairs.
Your little yorkie baby is so so so cute. I do not know if I can have another new kitty. I have Miles, but he is a different kitty, not a snuggle buddy. Now is a good time for me to start enjoying my first grand daughter, and perhaps a new baby from my younger daughter in August.
    Happy New Year, Faith.

Love your little Yorkie. I had to put my dog down too after 13 years and I still miss her. I have had to put several pets down through the years and it’s never easy, they are truly our fur babies. I have found that I don’t wait too long before getting another, I only get rescue dogs now and the last was a female that was 9.5 years old. She has blessed our life so much. Good luck with your little Yorkie.

It hurts so to lose a pet. I still cry when I think of my Buster who died November of ’15! yes, we filled that “hole” with more dogs. Now we have 3Eskies and 3 Great Pyrenees! Good thing we live on a farm! We love each one dearly- gotta have companions when the “real” kids are grown! Love your puppy- he’s darling!

I’m sorry for the loss to your family. Those furry friends really do become a part of the family and they seem irreplaceable. And they are, but a new bundle of fur can bring their own personality and joy to remind us of the good things about those we’ve lost. Good luck with all the ‘puppiness’..

I too understand your pain of losing a beloved friend. Terra the wire fox terrier died in July at 15. I already had gotten another dog but the loss is just the same. Pippa is a dear but it was interesting having a young one. You forget the fun and the trouble.

So heart broken we go on with the young one always knowing that a piece of your heart is gone.

So glad you have your new buddy. Cute as a button! Have fun you towo. All new memories to make.

People don’t understand that losing a pet is like losing a family member. We went through this with our cat Josie in 2008. We waited a few months before finding another cat, because we didn’t want to feel like we were replacing our sweet Josie.
A few months later, we went to a pet fair adoption sponsored by local pet rescue groups. And we met a cute little cat who crawled into my lap and nuzzled her head in the crook of my elbow. Emma came home with us.

So cute, that Benzie. Love Yorkies. He or she – I’m guessing it’s a he is adorable. How did you choose that name? He already looks like he is party of your family!! Sending lots of pet love.
