Framed Fairy Tales

Framed Fairy Tales

It's done! No, this block wasn't meant to be a quilt...well not a traditional quilt anyway. I found this really cute frame at Home Goods not too long ago. It was actually a framed bulletin board. I thought it would be cool to find a bunch of different frames and use them to decorate my sewing room. (More neat finds later!) I decided to removed the cork board and sew a mini quilt to fit (10" x 18"). Removing the cork was harder than I anticipated - it involved scissors, a knife and pliers!

I thought this mini quilt would be a fun project to try some new things. I added some embroidery to the block. Although I was pretty conservative and just went along with the design mostly, so it's not that easy to spot unless you see it in person.

I also didn't want to bind it because I was afraid that would add to much bulk for the frame. So I finished it like a pillow, sewing the back to the front and flipping it right-side out.

I am really excited to get it hanging in my sewing room. And make a few others as well!
