Checking In

Flying Geese : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Just checking in during a busy week of stitching and driving the kids to summer fun. Remember those Kona swatches I showed you not long ago? The fabric arrived and I’ve been busy cutting and piecing. Lots and lots of flying geese!

Radiant Splendor : Fresh Lemons Quilts

I also made a second modified Radiant Splendor Block. Can’t wait to have more time to dive into this project and finish writing the full quilt pattern.

Sewing Room : Fresh Lemons Quilts

And in anticipation of school starting in 5 weeks, I’m getting my sewing room more organized and efficient. I just put together a new cutting table (see the back corner of the room). This is the Martha Stewart Living Craft Space Three Drawer Flat File Cabinet from Home Decorations Collection (part of Home Depot). I’ve always cut on my sewing table which I love…but it’s made of reclaimed wood and is a bit “hilly” – not an entirely flat surface and it just hasn’t been an ideal cutting area. I’m really happy with this new table which is totally flat and taller so I won’t need to hunch over anymore. The top drawer is full of my quilting rulers and the bottom 2 have some current project fabric and notions.

Ok, back to the station wagon and sewing machine! Talk to you again soon!

Amy – that’s just a wooden bench that we bring downstairs sometimes when we have company and need more seating. 🙂 Gotta store it somewhere! 🙂

I love your space. I am crammed into a 8 x 8 area which I can’t seem to keep straightened. How I long for such organization. Guess I’ll have to wait for my kids to go off to college, so I can commandeer their rooms.

The flying geese look very “rainbow-y” and the arrangement of light to dark has me really intrigued!
Your studio looks so peaceful….and all that light! How nice….

Terrific pattern full of geese! Anticipation is wonderful in 70’s music and in quilting.

Those Kona bright & white flying geese look so lovely and crisp… I always have such trouble with flying geese! Your studio looks very tidy at the moment. I’m envious of that big ole table. When I need more room, I have to migrate to the dining room!

Found you via someone’s blog, I’m so excited you shared your new cutting table. I just finished removing closet doors in a spare bedroom placing IKEA book cases and two small cubby hole type book cases in this freshly painted room. I was looking for storage to replace my clear plastic bins( that I have loved for many years) but grateful to up-grade to nice pieces of furniture.
I placed my order for your cutting table and the apothecary hutch for the top.(I’m using for cutting table, have one already) thank you for the link and helping me finish up my sewing room! PS Love the flying geese too!

Coincidentally, I’ve just ordered almost the same table from Home Decorators (I chose the version with more drawers). So glad to know you are pleased with it. I look forward not only to the surface and height, but the opportunity to flat-store cutting boards, rulers and large art papers / mat boards, etcetera.

My grandmother’s buffet is in the dining room where I usually sew. Palm to forehead: I just realized the other night that it’s the perfect height for use as a cutting table. Revolutionary. Love the look of your sewing room!

Thanks so much for the heads-up on the Martha Stewart furniture. I’ve been looking for shelving for over my cutting table and I think I’ve found just the hutch that will work…..thank you!!!!!
