A Giveaway from Lark Cottons

Today we are kicking off October (and a very Fall feeling weekend here in Chicago!) with a giveaway from longtime sponsor Lark Cottons. This month marks four years that Heather and her shop have supported my blog – so awesome!

This month, Lark Cottons is giving away a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner. To enter, all you need to do is leave a comment. What would you buy from her shop? There are some great sales going on this month!

Save 35% on Fig Tree Quilts, Julie Comstock, Oliver + S, and Sweetwater. Discount applied automatically to the shopping cart page. (I’m always asked where I buy my text prints – Sweetwater makes a lot of them!)

It’s shops like Lark Cottons that allow me to provide so many patterns and tutorials to all of you out there. Thank you so much for supporting my sponsors!

I will pick a winner this Friday, October 9th. Good luck everyone!

Welcome Dinkydoo Fabrics!

Dinkydoo Fabrics

Today I’m happy to introduce you to the newest sponsor on my blog, fabric and notion shop Dinkydoo Fabrics! Dinkydoo is located in Vancouver, Canada (which just so happens to be on my vacation bucket list) and carries mostly modern & contemporary pre-cuts.

Owner Alicia has always been a crafty person: cross-stitching, pattern drawing, english paper piecing, clothes making, and quilt making. I asked Alicia how she got started with Dinkydoo.

I started Dinkydoo mostly because of a big lack of good online Canadian fabric stores. Some of the bigger places usually had cheaper discounted fabric and to get to a really good ones I’d have to drive pretty far. Then when I talked to our distributor up here I found out that because we’re in Vancouver, we can usually get new Moda pre-cuts a few months before the US does! It’s very exciting to be able offer our best neighbours early access to some of the great new Moda collections before anyone else.

I really hope everyone enjoys Dinkydoo, and if you see the “Chat” button online, don’t be a stranger! (I’m always glad to help out in any way I can!).

I love the variety of fabrics in the shop. For my USA readers, keep in mind that listed prices are in Canadian dollars, but there is an easy button on the right hand side of the item listings that changes the prices to US dollars or the Euro.

You can keep up with Dinkydoo online at their blog, Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram. They also offer a 15% discount off entire orders by signing up to their Newsletter (scroll to the bottom of the homepage to sign up).

Please join me in welcoming Dinkydoo! Thank you all for your generous support of my sponsors.

Dreaming of Half Square Triangles

Quilt Progress : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Well, I’ve made a lot of half square triangles. I may see them in my sleep tonight. After a few hours cutting, a few hours stitching, and a few hours ironing, I have several lovely stacks to spend a few more hours trimming.

Last week I made a test block with one of my favorite Anna Maria Horner prints from Good Folks, and some Robert Kaufman Essex Linen. I believe this is yarn dyed black, but as usual, I failed to label it. I may turn this block into a pillow.

Besides sewing, I’ve spent a bit of time this week baking in the kitchen with my kids. We made cupcakes and a very delicious blueberry cobbler with cornmeal biscuit.

This recipe is from one of my go-to favorite cookbooks, Rustic Fruit Desserts. Must remember to take advantage of all the fresh fruit while it is so readily available in the grocery!

Time to trim those half square triangle blocks!
