Bee Block, Fabric and New Art

TATB Bee Block for Terri (Sew-Fantastic)

May was Terri’s month in the Twice Around the Block VQB. She sent us a set of solid and textured fabrics and asked us to make straight lined modern blocks with squares and rectangles. I knew I wanted to use the off-white to make the 3 strips, but the rest was just improvised as I sewed along. I like how it turned out!

Cloud 9 Cut Out and Keep

A bit of new fabric arrived this week as well. I have plans in my head for at least one of these sets. Both are from Cloud 9 Organics. Cut Out and Keep is above, Nature Walk is below. The two collections actually look really nice together, so now I’m thinking about combining them in a fall quilt.

I also received a couple new prints for my sewing room over the weekend. They come from Kajsa Wikman’s Syko Shop.

Syko Prints

You might recognize her from her book Scandinavian Stitches (which is amazing). The prints arrived extremely quickly, even from overseas and are very high quality. I’m thinking it might be cute to decorate my daughter’s room with a few more.

We spent last weekend in northern Michigan so I didn’t have a chance to sew, but I have two quilt sandwiches up in the sewing room and plan to focus on them this week. Hopefully I will have them finished to share soon!

    What part of Northern MI? I’m a troll {grin} but we’re heading up to the Keweenaw and Big Bay in the middle of July. I am quite geeked! We’re camping at Twin Lakes and Van Riper State Parks, plan to hit the Pictured Rocks area and Tahquamenon, and Copper Harbor, too. I just love the UP! {grin}

      I have never been to the UP but would love to go! These are from by Frankfort, MI…northwestern MI. Not far from Sleeping Bear Dunes if you know that area.

    Those prints are adorable. They’ll look great in your sewing room or your daughter’s room. 🙂

    Looks like a gorgeous block and I spy a print I have in my stash;)

    Love the cards—how much cuter can it get!

    Very cute prints! I actually just got both sets of Cloud 9 fabrics and am planning to use them in a quilt together as well! 🙂 I am trying to find some solids to coordinate, but am a bit lost. Do you have any suggestions?
