A New Summer Bag!

Sometimes you just need to make yourself a new bag. Last Friday was one of those days. I always love Anna’s patterns so I decided on her super hip 241 Tote. It’s an instant download when you buy it ~ love getting things immediately!

I have been hanging on to this Ruby Star Spring fabric by Melody Miller for quite some time. It’s a cotton/linen blend and I thought it would be perfect for a bag. I paired it up with two Essex linens – Sand and Putty. I’m always a bit intimidated to work with linen because of all the shifting but the Essex linens are really nice and behave (most of the time).

The pattern was great to follow, even for those of us that are 3-dimensionally challenged. 😉 Here’s a view of the other side of the bag.

I used another Ruby Star Spring print on the inside and you can see there is also an magnetic snap enclosure.

Can’t wait to take this bag out on the town!

The bag is perfect for summer and a great use of Ruby Star. I haven’t tried Essex Linen and should if it behaves better than the wiggly linen I struggled with on my latest bag.

I love this and the way you mixed the linen and large prints! Been to chicken to try the linen yet — this bag has put it on my to do list now!

This is the best bag ever, and I love Anna’s pattern and instructions. I love yours with Melody’s fabric and the linen. It’s so beautiful, Faith! I want to make another 241 and use some of my Melody fabric too. And my Heather Ross fabs. And my Ikea fabric. And, and, and.

That is awesome! Now I want to make one! Or you could make one for me. You know it’s my birthday week coming up – lol. You’ve got time for that, right? 😉

It’s beautiful! Love the pattern, it looks very functional. I hate nappy fabrics because of their shiftiness, but, I didn’t know linen does that too. Thanks for the info!
