Edges by Laura Gunn

*Lots* of eye candy for you today! Last week I received a little bit of designer Laura Gunn‘s new line, Edges, in the mail. It arrived courtesy of Michael Miller Fabrics. I absolutely love the colors she chose for her latest collection.

As I was laying out the charms to take pictures, I was getting more and more excited to cut into them. I wanted to really feature all these great colors.
Inspired by this print from the line…

And this amazing quilt by my mom (hi mom!)…
I decided to make something with circles. I cheated a bit and used my Sizzix die cutter to cut these out.

They are 1-1/2″ in diameter. Before I cut them, I iron Heat n Bond Lite to the back of my charms, as I am going to fuse the circles onto fabric before quilting.

I spent Wednesday playing with the layout. The neutral squares are 2″ x 2″ finished. I can’t wait to share the completed mini quilt with you soon!
Edges is now available in stores. You can find it at Fat Quarter Shop.

Arkansas Traveler Update

Very quick update today on my Arkansas Traveler quilt. I finished the blocks! Sewing the four quadrants together for the blocks actually went pretty fast. I think it took about 2 hours to assemble 24 blocks.
I’ve started laying out the blocks for the final top. Sorry about the bad phone photo! I still need to decide on a backing and order that, but things are coming right along!

Solstice Stars Series : Quilt Top
It has been one of those weeks where I wish I had more to share… Despite both kids being sick, I have managed to get some things done. Unfortunately some I can’t share yet. Others aren’t quite ready to be photographed. But I did finish the quilt top for the Solstice Stars Series. And then I took the photos of it upside down. But you get the picture, right?
The rest of the week I’m planning to finish up some things with upcoming deadlines, specifically my For the Love of Solids swap and my quilt start for The Traveling Quilts. Hopefully I will be able to post both of those soon!
Don’t forget to enter the Art Gallery Poetica giveaway if you haven’t already. I’ll be picking a winner tomorrow night!

Catching Up
I feel like things are settling down here from summer and I’m going back to a bit of a routine. That is a nice feeling. Yesterday I made my Twice Around the Block September bee block for Jen. She asked for Drunk Love blocks (ala Denyse Schmidt) and sent a collection of Anna Maria Horner fabrics. So fun!
I am also pulling out some UFOs and getting to work. First up is my Parisville quilt. (Excuse the bad camera phone photo.)
I really can’t believe I’ve had this one sitting around for months. Yesterday I finished all the blocks for the top and hopefully today or tomorrow I will have a chance to start sewing them together.
