I first met Marcia several years ago at International Quilt Festival. She is so genuine and kind and obviously talented. Each year since, my mom and I go to her booth and visit when we are at the show. I’m thrilled to now be working on a quilt for her for Fall Quilt Market. Here’s a start…with the reds.
I’m thinking of developing a quilt along with this pattern sometime early Fall. Any interest?
Things will be a bit quiet around here next week while I enjoy the last official week of Summer Vacation with my family. School starts in just over a week ~ 1st Grade, here we come!

As usual I couldn’t narrow down what colors I wanted to use, so I picked pretty much them all (except the brown, it would blend too much into my couch).
Seeing Anna finish her pillows motivated me to get going on mine. I’d been hesitating because I always dread installing the invisible zipper. But she actually linked to a great tutorial on Sew Katie Did’s blog and guess what? I’m not scared anymore! It was so easy!
The two blue pillows are 20″ x 20″ and the red and yellow pillows are 18″ x 18″. I bought my down inserts at Crate and Barrel.
Since these fabrics are a Home Dec weight, I think they will hold up nicely to the abuse that comes at the hands of a 4 and 6 year old.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with how they turned out!

Occasionally I’ll see a preview of an upcoming fabric line and instantly I am giddy with excitement. That’s how I felt when I first saw peeks of the latest by artist Heather Ross. This line, Briar Rose for Windham Fabrics, is so sweet – much like all the rest of Heather’s fabrics.
I attempted to show some self restraint when shopping this time (do I really need clovers in 3 different greens? yes! no! someone hold me back!) So far I’ve only purchased the quilting cottons, but I do have plans to buy a bit of the knits for a skirt for my daughter.
I did manage to convince myself to get three of the four strawberry prints. My excuse is my 6 year old. Those are pretty much made for her.
The little bees are adorable.
And I think this larger scene would make a great quilt back for girl or boy.
Briar Rose is just arriving in shops now. You can find at many of my sponsors!

No project to really share this week…working on a deadline while spending mornings at the pool for swim lessons.
I’m excited to cut into this as soon as I finish my current deadline-quilt. If you aren’t familiar with Modern Yardage, you can find out all about their fabric printing process on their Informational Page. The neat thing is you get to select the scale of your print.
These prints (in no particular order) are:
Fun-Fetti in Twilight Blue, Large
Take Flight in Walkway Grey, Large
Berry Branch in Emerald, Medium
Veranda in Noir, Medium
Tidal Pool in Ocean Depths, Large
Coral Reef in Kelp, Large
Molecular in Arctic Blue, Medium
Chaise Lounge Chevron in Citron, Medium
But as I mentioned, first I am working on a quilt I can’t share yet…but I can show the yummy fabric stack.
Lots of Bonnie and Camille prints with a couple others from my stash worked in. Can’t wait to show you more!
