A Stitch in Color ~ A Moona Fabrics Sponsored Giveaway

Many of you know that fabric designer and author Malka Dubrawsky created her first fabric collection, A Stitch in Color for Moda Fabrics. Last month I created a quilt using fabric from a tiny sample fabric pack. I’m a huge Malka fan and have been eagerly anticipating yardage to start shipping.

Well, I’m excited to write that the moment has come and her fabric line is now appearing in stores! Moona Fabrics has ordered the collection and they are generously here today to give away a pre-release fat quarter set of all the fabrics you see in the above photo!

All you need to do to enter is leave a comment. I’d love to hear what you’d plan to do with the fat quarter set. I will pick a winner Thursday evening, January 19th. Good lucky everyone!

Comments are now closed while I pick a winner!

Our winner is comment #426!

Michelle G said “I would love that bundle of fabric. I confess I would probably horde it for the first year. That means I would hang on to it and bring it out (often) and pet it and contemplate the best way of using it. Then I would suddenly decide to stash bust and create a quilt with it.”

Congratulations Michelle! I will be emailing you for your address. Thank you to everyone for your comments!

Blogiversary Giveaway

About a month ago my two year blogiversary came and went with little fanfare. It happens to be around the 4th of July, and that happens to be my husband’s birthday, so not a lot of blogging usually occurs that week.

Part of me can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I started this blog. I suppose time flies when you’re having fun! In the last year, I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot of personal goals, from developing quilt patterns to appearing in publications, from adding many tutorials to the blog to cohosting this latest quilt along.

When I started quilting, I learned so much from the free tips and tutorials online on other blogs. It’s always been a goal of mine to also give back to the online community and help those who are getting started themselves. And hopefully inspire a few people along the way.

So! In celebration, I have a giveaway! I mentioned earlier this week that I spent last weekend in Cincinnati. My mom, sister and I (oh, and the kids) did a mini shop hop.

Quilter's Studio - Cincinnati, OH

Our first stop was The Quilter’s Studio in Loveland. This store is almost entirely batiks and includes many bolts by designer Marcia Derse – very pretty. They also have an entirely separate building with lots of classroom space and two long arm quilting machines where you can rent time.

I picked up The Quilts of Gee’s Bend postcard set there and plan on framing 9 of them for my sewing room. Part of the giveaway is 9 other prints from this postcard set so you can frame them for your room! Or mail them. Or whatever you want to do with them. :)

Sewn Studio - Cincinnati, OH

Our next stop (after lunch at Dewey’s Pizza) was Sewn Studio. This shop has been on my list to visit ever since my sister stopped in a few months back and told me how cool it was. Boy am I jealous that this shop isn’t in the Chicago suburbs!

Sewn Studio - Cincinnati, OH

It is so fresh and modern and welcoming.

I don’t think I saw one bolt of fabric that I wasn’t interested in – they even had embroidery patterns and perle cotton embroidery thread!

Sewn Studio - Cincinnati, OH

I was lucky enough to meet owner Stephanie and employee Jessica. Both were SO nice! Stephanie was kind enough to even donate a beautiful Summer House by Lily Ashbury charm pack to giveaway on my blog!

I picked up several great small prints for my stash and I am sharing them with you as well. The last portion of the giveaway is a FQ of each of the fabrics you see below.

It was a great visit, only slightly marred by my daughter announcing “I NEED TO POOP!” as we were just about the leave the store. A bit embarrassing but there is just no predicting what a 4 year old will find appropriate conversation in public. :)

Phew! So if you made it this far, all you have to do to enter is leave a comment! I will select a winner Monday evening. Good luck everyone and thank you for supporting me over the last two years – here’s to many more!

Update: For those in the comments that are interested in that great bike bag, Sewn Studio has commented “Our blog (www.sewnstudio.com/blog) is currently featuring an interview with Kathy McGee of Hemma Designs, the designer of the Ilsa Bike Basket. We’re giving away one of her patterns, too, so come on over and take a look.”
Comments are now closed. I will select a winner shortly. The winner is #315, Alisa, who said “I’ve been enjoying your blog for almost the two years. Looks like you had a fun blog hop.” Congratulations Alisa, I will email you for your address!

I want to thank each and every one of you for your comments. I read every one and they all made me smile. :)

Welcome Fresh Modern Fabric and Sponsored Giveaway!

Happy Monday everyone! I am excited this morning to introduce you to my newest sponsor, Alice Essinger of Fresh Modern Fabric! Fresh Modern Fabric is a fabric shop on Etsy, specializing in designer prints and modern quilting solids and basics, including some PFD (prepared for dyeing) fabrics. Alice loves fabric designs that tell a story, so she tends toward illustrative or novelty prints. She also carries organic fabrics and for those looking for Kona solids – she has a lot of those as well. Her background is as a catalog librarian, which really shows in her listings. Lots of great photos in natural light that show the scale of the fabric and very detailed listings.

Alice will set up custom listings for you, including fat quarters and quarter yard cuts. Love that.

Some of my favorites…

transistor radios? Next is Cosmo Cricket’s Tailor Made Rulers and then adorable Goo Goo Socks from Alexander Henry’s Monkey Bizness.

The Ghastlie’s are back and hot right now. The next bundle from Spring Street would be a great stash builder for someone just getting started with quilting. And finally, Lizzy House’s 1001 Peeps is now out (and yes, she carries the ENTIRE collection). You can bet some of these Pearl Bracelets will be in my stash! Especially that brown.

To celebrate Fresh Modern Fabric coming on board, Alice has kindly donated a fat quarter set of Lemons and Limes, Metro Market, Monaluna from Robert Kaufman Fabrics. The fabric will ship directly from Fresh Modern Fabric.

All you have to do is leave a comment. I will keep this giveaway open until Thursday evening. Good luck everyone and welcome Fresh Modern Fabric!

Comments are now closed! Will return with a winner!

The big winner is Carrie!
