Stage 1 ~ Complete!

Poinsettia Quilt Progress : Fresh Lemons Quilts

This has been a pretty productive week. I’ve finished all the corner block components! I’ve been mentally thinking of this part as “Stage 1″ and I’m happy to have it behind me.

Aren’t they all so pretty together? If I didn’t already have a plan for this quilt, I think I would leave them place just like this for a whole quilt top.

Although the “hard part” is now finished, I’m faced with the Stage 2 – cutting and stitching lots and lots of tiny squares. A bit less exciting and more tedious, but it will be fun to see it all start coming together.

Today I’m taking a small break from this project to work on a tutorial I’m planning for Bernina’s We All Sew blog in January. It involves Essex linen, Liberty of London, and decorative stitching. Not a bad way to spend a Friday!

Restash

Fabric Stash : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Those of you following my latest work in progress (here and here) know I’ve dug deep into my Anna Maria Horner fabric stash, as well as my black and cream prints. I decided to do a little restashing from Anna Maria’s currently in print collections, Honor Roll, Pretty Potent, and Dowry. Although these prints won’t make it into the current quilt, they will definitely be welcome additions to my fabric stash.

I also ended up using a lot of my black/cream stash. I went to Fat Quarter Shop and did a search on “Black“, and several awesome black/cream prints came up. All but 2 of these are from that search.

About half of these are from Sweetwater’s Elementary collection. So for those looking and wondering where to start, these are some great current prints that are readily available! If you are looking to do some fabric shopping – be sure to stop by Friday for a *lot* of deals from my sponsors. ;)

I hope all my readers in the United States have an awesome Thanksgiving tomorrow. I’m especially grateful for those around me, most of all my husband and children. I can’t wait to spend some quality time with them over the next few days!

Fabric Friday

True Colors by Anna Maria Horner : Fresh Lemons Quilts

A bit of eye candy for you this Friday! There have been a few bundles coming in over the last several weeks. One collection that I didn’t even know existed until Quilt Market was Anna Maria Horner’s True Colors. These are blenders designed by Anna Maria, made to coordinate with her fabrics. Which I love. So I had to buy these, really I had no choice!

I can’t wait to start working with them. I already have the quilt planned and ready – I’m just waiting for my neutral to arrive in the mail and then I will be off and cutting.

Below you’ll see Carolyn Friedlander’s Botanics. I bought this fat quarter set at Quilt Market and am already planning on ordering more. I love how she worked a little gold into some of the prints. Yardage will be available in December.

I was also lucky enough to receive a fat eighth set of Oakshott Cottons in the Lakes colorway. (Thanks Oakshott!) I loved working with these fabrics the first time around on my Nightshade quilt. They have such a great sheen. Aren’t the blues pretty?

You can find many of these fabrics at my sponsors. Botanics yardage is coming soon, but some shops do have precuts and preordering available.

A Halloween UFO and Quilt Along Update

Nightshade Quilt by Fresh Lemons Quilts : Faith

This week I decided to pull out my Halloween quilt UFO. I had planned on getting this done before Fall….but what can I say? I’m motivated by a deadline. I started this one last October and was too late for Halloween, but not this year!

I paired Tula Pink’s Nightshade line with Kona Snow and Oakshott Cotton from the Lipari colorway. You can read more about the Oakshotts here. I’m using my Prism quilt pattern. It’s a really fun, quick paper pieced design. I can’t wait to get it quilted and on my couch!

A bit of a Lighthouse Quilt Along update. I spoke with Windham Fabrics and they would like me to wait to share the finished quilt on my blog until after Quilt Market when it is displayed in their booth. So! That is at the end of October, so the quilt along will start a month later than I was thinking. Hopefully you all will still be excited about it then! :)
