A Rhapsodia Quilt Top

Rhapsodia Quilt Top

After taking a breather from sewing the last few days, I decided to start on a new toddler quilt using Art Gallery’s latest line of fabrics, Rhapsodia. As usual, these fabrics feel so wonderful and the colors and designs are beautiful.

I have been really thinking about Denyse Schmidt’s Ice Pops pattern lately, which can be found in her book Denyse Schmidt Quilts: 30 Colorful Quilt and Patchwork Projects.

Although there are templates in the book, I decided to just wing it. I cut my pieces with very slight angles to give them a bit of a wonky look (but not too wonky).

I sashed my blocks in a dark putty color and I am super disappointed that I don’t know what the fabric is! I think it might be a Moda Bella Solid because it doesn’t match any of the Kona, FreeSpirit or RJR solids on my color cards. I actually just ordered a Moda Bella Solids Color Card from Fat Quarter Shop so hopefully I will find a match soon. The lighter putty color is FreeSpirit Designer Solid Sand Dune. Love it.

I’m going to do some straight line quilting on this one, maybe start this weekend. Can’t wait to share the finished quilt!

Welcome Contemporary Cloth!

I am very excited to welcome a new sponsor to my blog, Contemporary Cloth! Sondra, Contemporary Cloth’s owner, has been selling modern fabric, notions, patterns and more since 2001.

Contemporary Cloth has generously offered 20% off orders between now and February 29th with the code lemons! With that in mind, let’s check out some of their beautiful fabrics and other fun stuff. :)

Sondra stocks some really great, unique fabrics and supplies. I love, love, LOVE these Japanese Yuwa fabrics. You better believe some of those hopped right into my cart as soon as I saw them!

Contemporary Cloth also has organic cotton fabrics, including some of my favorite stash builders.

Heath and crosshatch fabrics are hugely popular right now, and Sondra carries many!

One really unique item Contemporary Cloth stocks are Tjaps and Print Blocks. If you’ve ever wanted to dye and batik your own fabric, these are great for making designs and patterns on your fabric.

You can keep up with the latest at Contemporary Cloth on their blog, Facebook, Twitter as @ccloth, and Pinterest. You can also sign up for their newsletter on the sidebar of the blog.

Thank you so much to all my readers for supporting my sponsors. They really help keep this blog running!

A Stitch in Color ~ A Moona Fabrics Sponsored Giveaway

Many of you know that fabric designer and author Malka Dubrawsky created her first fabric collection, A Stitch in Color for Moda Fabrics. Last month I created a quilt using fabric from a tiny sample fabric pack. I’m a huge Malka fan and have been eagerly anticipating yardage to start shipping.

Well, I’m excited to write that the moment has come and her fabric line is now appearing in stores! Moona Fabrics has ordered the collection and they are generously here today to give away a pre-release fat quarter set of all the fabrics you see in the above photo!

All you need to do to enter is leave a comment. I’d love to hear what you’d plan to do with the fat quarter set. I will pick a winner Thursday evening, January 19th. Good lucky everyone!

Our winner is comment #426!

Michelle G said “I would love that bundle of fabric. I confess I would probably horde it for the first year. That means I would hang on to it and bring it out (often) and pet it and contemplate the best way of using it. Then I would suddenly decide to stash bust and create a quilt with it.”

Congratulations Michelle! I will be emailing you for your address. Thank you to everyone for your comments!
