Nordika Improv

I’ve spent my mornings this week cutting into the latest collection by my very kind friend Jeni Baker, Nordika for Art Gallery Fabrics.

As soon as I saw these fabrics, I knew I wanted to make something with improvisationally cut strips. It’s a lot of fun to just skip the ruler and cut freehand with the rotary cutter. I love the slight curves and angles.

I plan on using these in a little improv coin quilt. Nordika is arriving now in stores and you can even watch a video about the fabric!

Nordika is available at my following sponsors:

Westwood Acres
Fat Quarter Shop
Stash Fabric
The Intrepid Thread
Pink Castle Fabrics

Great looking fabrics! Can’t wait to see how they finish up in your quilt. The video is really cute too.

I love the Nordika line. I think I’m going to have to get me a bit of that. I’m sitting here scratching my head wondering how you stitch those curvy lines. I’m kind of a newbie and I know it’s probably something super easy but my little pea brain isn’t getting it.

It’s a beautiful line and certainly your strips looke great. I fear curves, sew them are a little tricky for me.Happy sewing!

I would also like to know how you did those curvy lines. Did you cut them right sides together and stitch? Also, were your strips all the same width when you started? The edges look even to me. Thank you!

I saw them on Jeni’s blog and was “wowed.” I’m sure I will be adding fabrics from that line to my stash.
