Hanna Hearts

Hanna Hearts Quilt

I thought I’d share just a few photos of my Hanna Hearts quilt progress while I am away at QuiltCon. It’s so cute! My 8 year old assures me.

(And totally unrelated to this quilt…if you’d like to see real time updates from QuiltCon today and tomorrow, be sure to follow me on Instagram!)

I am planning on adding some white sashing between everything. Probably either 1-1/2″ or 2″ wide. I mentioned in my last post that I used Allison of Cluck, Cluck, Sew’s Simple Heart Tutorial. These are the 4″ hearts. I just love them!

I’m going to back this one with minky so it’s nice and soft for the recipient!

QuiltCon ~ Schedule, Quilts and Book Signing

QuiltCon 2015

After what feels like a very long wait since my last trip to Austin, QuiltCon is finally here again! Two years ago, QuiltCon opened it’s doors as the industry’s first quilt show to focus on modern quilting. It was such an inspiring experience (and escaping Chicago in February wasn’t exactly a hardship!) I am pretty excited to have the chance to go back this year.

I thought I’d post my schedule in hopes of meeting some of you! I’m flying in Wednesday evening and will be attending Thursday and Friday. We have a family wedding this weekend, so I’m heading out Saturday bright and early.

Fresh Lemons Quilts

I also have 100 buttons for those that are doing a Quilt Con Pin Swap. Or even if you don’t have one to swap, I’d love to give you one if you stop me and say hi. Basically I don’t want to bring home 98 buttons. :)

I’m honored to have four quilts hanging in the show and two more that will be in a demo on Sunday.

Hanging are This Way, That Way, Starfall II, Star Bright and Big Top.

I’ve shipped off my Unraveled and Poinsettia quilts to the lovely folks at Westminster Fibers for use in a demo/discussion on Saturday. I don’t have all the time/location details – but I will try to update this post once I know!

ETA: Saturday, 3:00, demo station B

And finally, I will be in the Sew Much More booth (the local Bernina dealer) (#507), Friday at 3:00pm, to do a Vintage Quilt Revival book signing with Lee Heinrich. They will have books for sale, but you can also bring your personal copy of the book and we will happily sign that! :)

If you are coming, I hope we can meet! If you aren’t attending, I plan a wrap up post here on the blog when I return.

Easily Distracted

Splendor Quilt Progress : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Yep, that’s me. Easily distracted! As soon as I finished the next set of blocks for my Splendor Quilt, I thought “Wow, I really should make a couple quilts as gifts for {insert special occasion that occurs in one week}.” Guaranteeing said quilt gifts will most certainly be late.

My newest three Splendor Quilt blocks look nice though, right?

So, in a completely different direction I go – at least temporarily. This next quilt idea came as a combination of seeing Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew’s Simple Heart Tutorial and Quilt, and a constant Hanna Andersson advertisement that follows me around wherever I go on the internet.

I love the colors in this Hanna Andersson quilt and I figured – I could make something similar! Mine won’t be raw edge like perhaps the one for sale…has anyone seen it in real life?

Hanna Hearts Quilt Progress : Fresh Lemons Quilts

It was serious nose-to-the-sewing-machine yesterday and I stitched up 99 hearts (or 198 heart halves). Not going to lie, my back was sore. I need a better chair for sure.

I trimmed them up and they are now ready for pressing.

I’m hoping to get them sewn together today. After elementary school Valentine’s Day parties that is! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

A New Beginning ~ Splendor Quilt

Splendor Quilt Fabric : Fresh Lemons Quilts

Well, I’ve taken a bit of time off to focus on things away from the sewing machine. Basking in the joy of finishing the Poinsettia Quilt I suppose. I spent the last week thinking about what I wanted to work on next. The big winner is another new quilt/pattern called the Splendor Quilt. This one is an adaptation of the Radiant Splendor block tutorial that I posted last March.

Splendor Quilt Beginnings : Fresh Lemons Quilts

I designed this quilt over the summer and made 2 blocks. Then it sat while other projects jumped in front of it. Now it’s on the design wall, looking a bit lonely at the moment.

Not for long though. I have the pattern written and am testing along the way. This is going to be a large Queen Sized quilt. I’m already throwing around the idea of having it long armed. It would be my first time sending a quilt out!

I hope you enjoy watching the process of this quilt coming together over the next several weeks.
